Nurse Practitioner

Part time / Full time – negotiable.

Otway Health is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to work as part of a dynamic health care team within its Multi-purpose health service. The position offers a unique professional blend, functioning autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role providing innovative and flexible health solutions as well as providing clinical management and leadership, influencing and progressing evidence based clinical practices and procedures.

About Otway Health

Otway Health is a Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) located at Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road in South West Victoria.  The MPS is a joint Commonwealth and State Government initiative for isolated areas.  This model concept draws together appropriate health and community services within the one organisation.  The aim of Otway Health is to provide an integrated health service consisting of community and allied services, primary health care, In Home & Social Support, adult education, neighbourhood house, flexible aged care residential places, a small acute unit and an Urgent Care Unit.

About the Role

The Otway Health Practitioner model supports Nurse Practitioners to be integral members of the health care team who practice autonomously but in collaboration with other local & regional health professionals as part of an integrated model to assess and manage patients using their knowledge and nursing skills.

As clinical lead the Nurse Practitioner will complete advanced level triage and appropriate comprehensive health assessments that include health history, physical examination, and social assessment as well as plan, implement and evaluate short term nursing care within the Acute, Urgent Care Unit and flexible Aged Care residential facility. Remuneration will be in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Health Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2016 – 2020 and based on relevant qualifications and experience.

Essential Criteria and Closing Date
  • Registered Nurse Division One holding a current registration with Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Masters of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) with relevant unrestricted AHPRA notation as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Demonstrated experience in a position of senior clinical leadership/management.
  • Demonstrated experience in an Emergency / Urgent Care Unit / Rural Remote practice (highly desirable).
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in consulting, liaising and negotiating within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Experience in development, delivery and evaluation of education.

Community Care Worker

Otway Health is seeking to employ Community Care Workers to provide personal care, domestic assistance services and social support to clients in their homes. We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic and caring individuals to join the Community Care Service team.
Essential Criteria and Closing Date
  • Current or working towards Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)
  • Apply Advanced First Aid
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current Drivers Licence
